Environmental Responsibility

What exactly does it mean to be ‘eco-friendly’?
Is it really better to use biodegradable material, or is reprocessed material sufficient and more cost realistic?
How does the desire for a lower carbon footprint apply to the display industry?

Mercury Plastics is committed to supporting our customers in their efforts to present environmentally responsible solutions to the market. This has become a very complex field, involving a variety of terms that are often used indiscriminately without regard to precise meaning or purpose, and a number of materials or additives with properties that may or may not have been properly certified. Mercury has assumed a leadership position and helps guide customers through this confusing yet high profile arena.  We do this by offering a number of recycled, reprocessed or blended plastic materials for use in varying applications as well as:

  • Research into biodegradable materials currently available on the market, and an assessment of how appropriate their use would be for various specific applications

  • Research and development of Mercury proprietary materials produced through our highly advanced in-house extrusion process

  • A number of recycled, reprocessed or blended plastic materials for use as OEM parts, Packaging or Display components

Mercury sets a stellar example for an environmentally responsible firm by operating an ecologically sound production and warehousing facility:

  • Employ a ‘5S’ lean manufacturing program and ascribe to countless significant energy saving features on our equipment

  • Control and monitor all our utilities (including air & water)

  • Utilize MX4 software to trigger consistent and thorough maintenance on all the equipment throughout the Mercury plant

  • At Mercury, we Sort and Recycle ALL plastic scrap, metals and corrugated materials

Mercury clearly walks the talk!
